This project was a solution to the problem of limited space in a small closet. To solve the problem we cut a hole in the wall, which had empty attic space behind it. A custom cabinet was built using birch plywood and pocket screws. It was faced off with 1×2 finger joint pine. The cabinet was installed in the wall and drawers were then built and installed into the cabinet. This application used under-mount soft close drawer glides which deliver a very smooth open and they have a special piston built in to slow the cabinet drawers from slamming, even if they are pushed shut forcefully; The glides gently stop the motion of the drawer and then slowly continue until they have successfully shut the drawers.
